What this tool does
Re-decode a plain-text file that was saved with a legacy encoding (e.g. GBK, Big5) and save it as UTF-8 for modern apps and websites.
Supported formats
Input: .txt with encoding you select (UTF-8, GBK, GB2312, Big5, ISO-8859-1). Output: UTF-8 .txt.
How to use
Upload the text file, choose the source encoding that matches how the file was created, click Convert, and download the UTF-8 version.
Limitations & tips
If you pick the wrong source encoding, characters will look garbled — try another encoding. Binary files and Word documents are not supported. The tool reads the whole file into memory; huge files may fail on mobile browsers.
